Who am I?

I am a 28 year old self made millionaire. This blog will be about how I made it there by saving 90% of my income.

Well that was entirely bullshit (minus being 28). I feel like that is how every financial education blog or YouTuber starts off. They have some ludicrous level of built up wealth and seemingly knew what to do from the day they started. That isn’t who I am and likely isn’t who you are.

So who am I actually?

I am, in all honesty, exceedingly normal. My story would sound like millions of other millennials. I went through school and was lucky enough to have parents who encouraged me to study and do well. Not that I needed much encouragement. I was a complete and total nerd. From straight A’s and marching band to watching Dragon Ball Z and Naruto.

My nerdiness continued through high school and into college. I got a degree from my state university before landing a job in IT for a Fortune 500 company. I love my job and it has given me tons of opportunities for growth.

So now I am 7 years into career and an IT Manager. I have learned a lot throughout my career both in and out of work. I have moved 4 times since graduating college and now settled in Wichita Kansas. I met an absolutely amazing woman here and will be getting married later in 2021.

So why am I starting a blog about finance and personal growth as an average person?

Because there is a gap in the content in this area. While I think there is value in the aspirational content of those who have “made it”, I think there is as much, if not more, value in content about the process. While I am financially healthy I still have a lot of room for improvement. I want to apply some of the lessons of those more successful and write about them as I learn.

I will be writing about financial topics like budgeting, side hustles, and investing. I will also write about other self development like fitness, habit formation and productivity.
